Pilates Classes In Norfolk
Group Pilates Classes at Kelling Estate, Holt, North Norfolk
All my group matwork classes are taught at specific levels; there are no mixed-ability classes. We use small pieces of equipment – hand weights and toning balls, for example – to increase resistance and add variety.
At the moment there is no beginners’ class. If you haven’t done Pilates before you will need to do two 1:1s at my home studio to understand the basic principles of Pilates before you can join an improver class. In order of difficulty the levels are: beginner, improver, intermediate, advanced.
- Monday 9–10: advanced matwork
- Monday 10.15–11.15: improver matwork
- Wednesday 9–10: intermediate matwork
- Wednesday 10.15–11.15: improver matwork
- Thursday 9–10: improver matwork
- Thursday 10.15–11.15: intermediate/advanced matwork
Classes are paid for termly in advance. My terms follow local schools so vary between 5, 6 and 7 weeks and accordingly cost £50, £60 or £70.
Private Pilates Classes in North Norfolk
I teach 1:1s or 1:2s at my studio in in the village of Gateley near Fakenham. These classes involve matwork as well as specialised Pilates equipment (see About page). Because these classes are tailored to individual needs I can teach complete beginner to advanced levels. Private classes are also more suitable than group classes for those who are post-operative or who have rehabilitation needs.
Classes are on Tuesdays, last an hour, and cost £40 for a 1:1 and £50 for a 1:2.
Online Pilates Classes
If you don’t want to join a class or travel, I can arrange online classes via Zoom. These last three quarters of an hour and cost £30 for a 1:1. If you have a friend or partner who would like to join you for a 1:2, the charge is £20 per person.
FAQs
Do I need to bring anything?
You need to bring your own mat and a head cushion or small towel to rest your head on.
I have a bad back and I’m worried Pilates will make it worse.
It is difficult to overcome the fear of movement, and back pain can be especially debilitating. Pilates improves your core strength and strengthens your back muscles, so you can support your spine more effectively in everyday life. You work at your own pace - it’s not competitive - and most people find it improves their back pain quite quickly.
I’m not very fit, does that matter?
No, Pilates will improve your fitness, and at the beginning it’s not particularly aerobic. A lot of the movements are done lying down so you are very supported.
I’m over 60, can I still do Pilates?
You can do Pilates at any age, but you do need to be able to get up and down off the floor.
What happens if I miss a class?
Classes are paid for in advance and by the term. If you can’t come one week, I’ll try to fit you into a class of a similar level on another day, so you can make up the missed class. This isn’t always possible, so you may pay for a class that you can’t attend.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes - a T-shirt and leggings. You can have bare feet or non-slippy socks.
